A 10-week virtual program for the fog, forgetfulness, and slowed thinking that can follow cancer treatment. It is offered at $0 cost to survivors in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

  • Ten weekly 60-minute classes, live on Google Meet in a small group, Wednesdays at 12 pm ET.
  • 15 hours of clinical support: 10 class hours plus 5 hours one-on-one with your OneVillage clinician.
  • Built on cognitive rehabilitation, one of the most heavily researched areas in rehabilitation medicine, with five peer-reviewed studies behind Emerging from the Haze specifically.

Michelle Kirschner

Michelle Kirschner, MSN, RN, ACNP, APRN-BC

Clinical Lead

Michelle is the nurse practitioner who delivers Emerging from the Haze for OneVillage, and she personally leads every session of every cohort. She has more than 20 years of clinical experience and is a nationally recognized voice in cancer survivorship and cancer cognitive care, specializing in cancer rehabilitation and return to work. She co-created a Cancer Cognitive Clinic and a Neuro-Oncology Survivorship clinic, has served as Director of Program Development for Survivorship and Supportive Services at the UC Health Barrett Cancer Center, and is currently Managing Director of the International Cancer Rehabilitation Foundation. She chairs the OneVillage Medical Review Board. Beyond the weekly classes, Michelle holds clinical responsibility for your care and personally conducts your individual intake, your mid-program check-in at Week 5, and your final visit at Week 11, so one clinician who knows your history is with you at every step.

Arash Asher, MD

Arash Asher, MD

Program Creator & Program Director

Dr. Asher is the physiatrist who created Emerging from the Haze at Cedars-Sinai and remains its program director. He is Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UCLA and Cedars-Sinai, and has served as Director of Cancer Survivorship & Rehabilitation at the Samuel Oschin Cancer Institute since 2008. He is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and by the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and he led the published studies behind the program. He authored the curriculum you will work through, and is not involved in the care of individual participants.

Jeffrey C. Wertheimer, PhD, ABPP-CN

Program Co-Developer

Dr. Wertheimer is the board-certified clinical neuropsychologist who developed Emerging from the Haze alongside Dr. Asher at Cedars-Sinai, and is a co-author on the program's virtual-delivery studies. He is Chief of Psychology and Neuropsychology Services at Cedars-Sinai and Associate Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Cedars-Sinai and the California Rehabilitation Institute. Like Dr. Asher, he shaped the curriculum you will work through and is not involved in the care of individual participants.
